Sangrur: In a heart-wrenching incident, six lives, including that of a 4-year-old child, were tragically lost as their car collided with an oncoming truck on the Sunam–Malerkotla road in Sangrur. This unfortunate incident occurred on a Thursday morning, and the victims were en route from Malerkotla to Sunam.
The Fatal Overtaking Attempt
The harrowing collision unfolded as the car attempted to overtake an oil tanker, setting off a chain of devastating events. The victims have been identified as Neeraj Singla, his 4-year-old son Davesh Jindal, along with Deepak Jindal, Lalit Bansal, and Vijay Kumar.
Oil Tanker Adds to the Tragedy
The aftermath of the collision was marred by further tragedy, as the oil tanker struck the car from behind, exacerbating the severity of the incident. While the driver of the oil tanker sustained injuries, the truck driver managed to flee the scene. This heart-wrenching incident occurred at around 2 a.m., according to the police. Subsequently, a case has been registered against the truck driver, who absconded from the accident scene. Postmortems of the deceased have been conducted, statements from family members have been recorded, and the bodies are now being returned to their grieving families.
