Bhubaneswar: The discovery that a deceased person from the Hi-Tech Hospital explosion incident in Bhubaneswar, who had been previously identified as Dilip Samantray, was actually “alive” shocked everyone, especially since another victim had also claimed to be Dilip.
The explosion that occurred on December 29 at the private medical college hospital left four people with serious injuries. Of them, two are dead and the other two are receiving treatment. Interestingly, the explosion happened at the hospital when the AC gas was being filled.
An injured person named Dilip Samantray of Khurda passed away on December 30.
But another injured man under treatment, who was earlier identified as Jyoti Ranjan Mallik, has now started to claim that he is Dilip Samantray.
Speaking to newsmen, Smita Padhi, CEO, Hi-Tech Hospital, said, “The four injured persons were workers of an outsourcing agency. After the explosion, a staff of the agency identified them, on the basis of which the hospital maintained the identification record. The kin of the victims also identified them.”
According to her, the man identified as Dilip Samantray, died during treatment on December 30. As per protocol, the local police was informed and his family members also signed the concerned documents before receiving the body from the police.
