According to an official on Sunday, a junior coworker detained for the alleged murder of a worker at an IT consulting services company in Nagpur told the police he was furious after hearing his senior criticize him for his performance at work.
According to the Nagpur police earlier, the victim, identified as L Devanathan NR Lakshminarasimhan (21), had been employed by Hexaware Technologies for the previous ten months as an assistant manager at MIHAN (Multi-Modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur).
When the incident happened, the victim, his coworkers Chandel and Pawan Anil Gupta, also known as Halwai, were drinking alcohol in an apartment in the Shyam Nagar area.
Citing Chandel’s interrogation, the official said that Devanathan raised questions concerning his performance at work and told him that he was lacking in certain areas.
“Chandel was infuriated. He grabbed a knife and stabbed Devanathan in the chest. The knife pierced Devanathan’s heart, resulting in his death,” the official said.
After Chandel and Halwai brought Devanathan to a private hospital on Wednesday morning, the crime was discovered. They reported to the staff that he was hurt when he fell in the restroom. The body had stab wounds, so the staff didn’t believe them.
Following a complaint from the victim’s brother, police opened an investigation. After being questioned by the police, Chandel admitted to the crime.
