Chandigarh: Independent MLAs in Haryana have withdrawn their support from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), dealing a significant blow to the Nayab Singh Saini-led government. Sombir Sangwan, Randhir Gollen, and Dharampal Gonder, three of these MLAs, have announced their decision to back the Congress during elections.
Expressing their reasons for the withdrawal, Independent MLA Dharam Pal Gondher cited past support provided to BJP during government formation and expressed disappointment over the current leadership as it lacked the leadership of Manoharlal Khattar. Randhir Gollen echoed similar sentiments, citing concerns over rising unemployment and inflation during BJP’s tenure.
Responding to these developments, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini acknowledged the reports but downplayed Congress’s involvement, suggesting it was merely fulfilling certain individuals’ wishes.
Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda seized upon the opportunity, claiming BJP’s loss of majority in the Haryana cabinet due to MLAs’ resignations. He highlighted the shift in support from some independent MLAs to Congress, signaling a potential change in the state’s political landscape.
