Full Marks to Kejriwal, Rival Bedi takeS responsibility for party’s defeat

New Delhi: With trends clearly showing a clean sweep by Aam Aadmi Party, BJP’s chief ministerial nominee Kiran Bedi said she will take full responsibility for the defeat.

Bedi, who was trailing in the Krishna Nagar seat, said in it was a match with AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and only one person emerges victorious in a match. “We both are competing, we both are playing a match. When we play we just play, only one person wins,” she told reporters at her residence.

Bedi dismissed the view that the Delhi poll results are a referendum on the Narendra Modi government. “If the party wins it will be a collective victory, if it loses it is individual, I will take full responsibility. Even during my policing days if their was a failure, responsibility was mine,” she said.

The AAP was leading in 51 seats while BJP was ahead only in 14 seats. The trends were available for 67 seats out of 70 seats.

BJP had won 31 seats in the last assembly polls. Bedi was made Chief Ministerial candidate for the party just three weeks ahead of the elections.

Best Wishes to You, Anna Hazare Tells Arvind Kejriwal

Mumbai: Gandhian activist Anna Hazare extended his “best wishes” to his protege and Aam Admi Party or AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal as his party headed for a landslide win in the Delhi assembly election.

“I extend my best wishes to Kejriwalji,” Anna told journalists at his village Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra.

Mr Kejriwal became a household name when he was a key aide to Anna when the latter launched a hunger strike at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi in 2011 in support of a Lokpal Bill.

Anna urged Mr Kejriwal “not to forget that ‘andolan’ (struggle) whether or not you are the chief minister”.

He said Mr Kejriwal earned people’s trust by taking part in the anti-corruption agitation. “That is why he got so much support now. I urge him not to make the mistakes he committed earlier.”

Anna also criticized the Narendra Modi government for enacting a legislation that makes it easy for authorities to take over land from the farmers.

‘I Promise to End Corruption and VIP Culture’: Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi: As his party looked set to form the next government in Delhi, with a gigantic majority, Delhi’s next chief minister Arvind Kejriwal told sources, “This is the people’s victory. My first priority will be to end “rishvatkhori”(bribes),” he said.

He also said, “I had no nervous moments, we knew people were with us. I promise to be the janta’s Chief Minister and end corruption and VIP culture.”

The 46-year-old taxman turned activist turned politician said, “I am an ordinary man, I am Janta ka CM.”

“I will not say anything rude about Kiran Bedi,” Mr Kejriwal said when asked to comment about his main rival for the post of chief minister in these elections.

Throughout the campaign in the Delhi elections, Mr Kejriwal maintained that Ms Bedi, who joined the BJP last month, was “a very nice lady in the wrong party.”

Rahul Gandhi congratulates Kejriwal

New Delhi: Congress’ Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi congratulated Arvind Kejriwal on dream result. “People have chosen AAP and we respect that,” said Rahul.

Arvind Kejriwal wins

New Delhi: AAP leader has won the New Delhi seat by 27,000 votes over his closest rival, the BJP’s Nupur Sharma.

Kejriwal was widely expected to retain the seat, which he wrested from three time CM Sheila Dikshit in a classic David and Goliath contest in 2013.

He will take oath as CM on 14 February.
