Mangaluru: The third episode of Career Guidance with Prof. Ronald Pinto on planning career was premiered on Friday October 1.
Brian Fernandes, Director of Spearhead Media Group hosted the show by NewsKarnataka, which is powered by Loyala College, Bengaluru.
Prof. Ronald Pinto who is the Director of the Institute for Individual Development, Mangaluru, specifically talked about a career in Engineering.
“I have seen many people who consider engineering to be the best career option since it has the highest employability right after completing the 4 years of degree course.”
Discussing about the qualities required for someone in an engineering field, Prof. Ronald said, “one of the most important qualities that they require are aptitude as well as human relation management skills. One must be smart and dynamic to handle various responsibilities in an organisation.
He explained that there are more than 200 engineering colleges in Karnataka State. The course has huge demand in India as well as abroad. Pursuing Masters in Business Administration (MBA) after Bachelors in Engineering (BE) will open more opportunities.
“There are numerous kinds of Engineering courses available at present, Choosing among them is very important. One must consider their aptitude and employability while choosing Engineering stream. Nowadays apart from Computer Science, Mechanical, Civil Engineering branches, Aeronautics, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Cyber Security Engineering have huge demand,” he explained.
he also informed the students that after pursuing B.E., they can also choose some other branch of Engineering that is highly in demand for their M.Tech.
He advised students to study well and score well in Common Entrance Test to get into reputed engineering colleges.
He said, “Getting in IITs, NITs, and reputed colleges will secure the employability as many famous companies will hold campus selections.”
In the end, he spoke about the fees structure in various colleges. He opined that Engineering is an affordable course compared to Medical. There is a uniform fee structure in Karnataka that ranges from 1.5 Lakh to 2.5 lakh for Government seats. One can even go for a student loan as you have guaranteed employment after just 4 years.
