Bengaluru:  An 8-year-old minor was allegedly molested inside the school by the Sports teacher in the state capital.

Parents of minor claim that the girl has been assaulted. Furious mob gathered in front of the school following a complaint and beat-up the accused teacher when he was being taken away by the JJ Nagar police for questioning.

According to the reports, the mob, breaching police security, dragged the teacher and beat him up badly, before ransacking the school and later set fire on few vehicles parked outside. A police vehicle was also gutted along with several two wheelers.

Meanwhile, additional platoons rushed to the spot and resorted to ‘lathi charge’ and lobbed tear gas to disperse the mob indulged in arson. Several persons including police personnel were injured in the incident. Senior police officials have camped in the area to monitor the law and order situation.

“The private school did not have CCTV cameras installed. The situation is limping back to normalcy and the jurisdictional police have been directed to conduct a detailed probe”, City Police Commissioner, M.N. Reddi said.

Bengaluru which was rocked by a series of sexual assaults in schools last year had seen massive protests from the public, which led to tightening of guidelines to ensure safety of children.
